The Vel Awakens

Finally after many days travelling through the forest and the mountains, the party arrived at Murugan's clearing, the solitary pit and the small hut where Delviniyan spent his formative time meditating on the wonders of the Universe. Murugan sat crossed legged and his hands were across his chest in the Eccarisuyyan Dravidian Yogic pose: i.e. the ancient Aaiyyanist pose to awaken the mind to clarity and forethought.

Delviniyan greeted his master Murugan, and the Aaiyyanist King and his family realising that there were in the presence of Aaiyyan bowed their heads. The Kalaiyyan Queen Sironemaniyaa was also ashamed on how she treated and caged Murugan all those years before, so she too bowed and greeted Murugan. Sage KalShivayan waited for Murugan to speak... and everyone fell silent.

"So?.." asked Murugan (the forest dweller) addressing King Nekaankilaan. "You are here to ask me to grant permission to marry the Princess and create a lineage of warrior priests that will rule the world in the name of Shiva-Aaiyyanism. I have foreseen that a greatness will sweep over mankind and the oneness of all will be the building blocks to a new civilisation based on peace, love, truth, Aaiyyanist Yoga and knowledge of the seen and unseen."

The King and Queen, Prince and Princess were pleased and proud when they heard that they will be heirs to greatness. This was not an egotistical pleasure but a solemn inner happiness that comes from piety and realising that self-sacrifice can uplift all.

"So?..." asked Murugan again, this time to Delviniyan. "Have you come to me to ask me to give you my blessing?"

"No". Said Delviniyan to the shock of the Royal Family. "I understand what you were trying to teach me and I understand who you really are and what your purpose is, at this moment in time."

"Good" said Murugan. "Then you know what to do."

Delviniyan turned to the Aaiyyanist Royal Family, the Kalaiyyan Queen and Sage KalShivayan and solemnly said: "Thank you for taking care of me in both parts of my life... I am eternally grateful. We are all One and all paths leads to the same destination. But now I must take a path that will separate myself from you for a while. I will return to you in 100 Brahma years when the great Mahapralaya occurs.

The Princess cried.. "Where will you go"?

Delviniyan just bowed his head and walked slowly to the edge of the pit, joined his hands in prayer and leapt in. The black pit turned red in colour, then silver, then gold and the black once more... the hole was empty except a golden spear lay across the top of the pit...in the centre of the expanse of nothingness.

Murugan meditated on the Loka and the weapon flew into his hand.

The Aaiyyanists and Kalaiyyans gasped... They were shocked and all fell silent, until King Nekaankilaan spoke: "Delviniyan has become the Vel... Brahman's instrument for defeating Surapadman: Brahman's block. Will you (Murugan) now slay the demon and free us from this material plane?"

"No." replied Murugan... "As Delviniyan realised at the end... I am 'the Block'. I am Murugan, I am Aaiyyan and I am Surapadman, and the vanquisher of Surapadman. I am The Liberation and I am The Block."

Sage KalShivayan finally spoke up."What do you mean? You are the Block! That makes no sense? How can you be The Block that prevents us from fully linking with all the realms that surround us."

"That is the incorrect question." Answered Murugan. "The question you need to ask is: why am I The Block?"

The assembled group lay silent as they thought of an answer... that did not come readily, for their egos masked the truth.

Finally Murugan spoke. "I will answer the question for you. I am 'The Block' (Atekkaayan), because you are not ready yet.... You are not ready to fully open all the Lokas and Talas that surround us all. You had that power, but did not act as One. Thus you need to become one again before I will unblock. The Block will become stronger as you separate from one another. The Block will weaken and dissipate when you all become closer and ultimately One. There is a journey that you must return to. I will leave now, but when I return you will start your journey once more."

And thus Murugan departed from the clearing and faded away into the forest. The shocked Kalaiyyans and Aaiyyanists stood silently for a long time and then returned to their respective homes to ponder on Murugan's words. Both sides sent search parties to the mountainous forests to search for Murugan and the Vel but both were never seen by that generation or many generations again.
